Grassroots (Recreational) Director

The A3 Grassroots Director works directly with the A3 Directors for the planning and execution of the Futures & County programs during the fall and spring seasons. The coordinator should have experience with the program before being considered to fill the role. The ideal candidate has a passion for connecting others in a positive and engaging environment, while working on a team to deliver a service to the local community.

Objectives

  • Responsible for the Futures program (age groups U4-U8), roughly 20-30 teams
  • Responsible for inventory, ordering, and distribution of jerseys, shorts, and socks
  • Identify volunteer coaches through recruitment and proactive communication
  • Build teams of players by utilizing software to sift through individual requests and org needs
  • Set game schedules for coaches and teams (Futures only)
  • Hold pre-season meeting with all coaches to dispense equipment, go over seasonal objectives, and cover logistics
  • Daily operations of clinic (cancellation of practices and postponement/rescheduling of games)
  • Work with Executive Director to confirm Staff Coaches for Fall U6/U7 age groups on Friday nights and Saturday mornings
  • Responsible for the county program (age groups U9-U19)
  • Confirm payments made to appropriate organizations before season starts
  • Work with the A3 Directors to identify coaches, build teams, and set practice schedules.
  • Build Teams and include coaches contact information in AAYSA registration (with help of GM)
  • Ensure team rosters and player contracts are completed.
  • Attend County Soccer league (AAYSA) meetings
  • Consult playability of game fields and coordinate field closings with county and clinic coordinator
  • Handout/distribute Team Equipment Bags to Coaches
  • Participate in a Preseason coaches meeting
  • Serve as point of contact for coaches and parents, within reason

Qualifications and Education Requirements

  • Previous coaching experience is preferred
  • Previous youth soccer program oversight is preferred
  • High School Education
  • Minimum 18 years old and able to pass Anne Arundel County background check
  • Eligible to work in the US

Additional Requirements

  • Ability to lift 20 pounds
  • Ability to work Friday nights and Saturday mornings during the season
  • Ability to work in varying climates including heat, rain, and cold
  • Reliable transportation
